Q: What materials are needed for a paternity test, how are they collected, and what precautions should be taken?
A:
1. Blood Sample Collection: ⑴ Please have a professional medical worker collect the sample. Please use EDTA anticoagulant tubes (heparin anticoagulant tubes cannot be used); ⑵ 1-2 ml of anticoagulated blood, label with the name and specify the sample relationship (e.g., father, mother, son, daughter, etc.); ⑶ No fasting required. (Please ensure that you have not undergone organ transplantation or bone marrow transplantation surgery, and have not received a blood transfusion in the past two years.)
2 Bloodstain Collection: ⑴ First, purchase a blood glucose testing lancet, medical disinfectant gauze, iodine, and cotton swabs from a regular pharmacy; ⑵ Disinfect the blood collection site (finger prick blood, infants can use heel prick blood) and the lancet with alcohol. Use the lancet to collect five drops of blood from the fingertip and place them on disinfectant gauze (or clean tissue paper); ⑶ Allow the gauze blood to dry naturally (do not use your mouth or a hair dryer to dry it), place it in a separate clean bag, and label it. ⑷ No fasting required. (Please ensure that you have not undergone organ transplantation or bone marrow transplantation surgery, and have not received a blood transfusion in the past two years.)
3. Hair Sample Collection: ⑴ Hair must be pulled out, not cut or naturally shed (ensure you can see the white substance at the root of the hair, i.e., the hair follicle). At least 6 roots are required; ⑵ It is best to let the pulled hair dry for a few minutes at room temperature before placing it in a bag. Because freshly collected hair is quite sticky, if put into a bag immediately, the hair follicles may stick to the wall of the bag, affecting DNA extraction. Hair from different individuals should be stored separately and labeled. (Hair collection is not recommended for newborns.)
4. Semen Stain/Semen Collection: ⑴ Use four to five clean cotton swabs to collect semen from inside a condom, and then air dry at room temperature; ⑵ Semen stains on easily portable items should be collected as a whole, such as underwear. ⑶ Semen from inside a condom should be sent for testing as soon as possible. - Oral Swab Collection: ⑴ Do not touch the swab with your hands or other items. Rinse your mouth with water before sampling. After the sample has air dried, please send it for testing as soon as possible; ⑵ Prepare a disinfected medical cotton swab. Before collection, rinse your mouth with water, then hold the swab and gently rub it against the buccal mucosa inside your mouth
5. times or more. There should be mild discomfort to ensure proper collection. Remove the swab and let it air dry in a clean place. ⑶ Collect a second swab in the same way. Each person must provide at least three swabs. 30次以上,要有轻微的痛感才能取到,取出棉签,干净处阴干。⑶以同样的方法采集第二根棉签,每个人至少要提取三根棉签。
