In 2016, the national development and reform commission (NDRC) launched the construction of the first batch of 27 National Reference Center for Application of Genetic Testing Technologies in China. Together with Reproductive and Genetic Hospital of Citic-Xiangya, Hunan Guangxiu-GaoXin Life Sciences Co., Ltd. was approved to establish the reference center of prepregnancy genetic testing in Hunan province. The aim of the  reference center is to set up the application system of prepregnancy genetic testing for "better babies", to promote the standardization of related technologies, and to achieve the goal of health benefits to the public.
At present, the center has developed genetic testing technology for 55 inherited tumors (such as familial breast cancer, retinoblastoma, hereditary multiple osteochondroma, etc.) and more than 260 kinds of monogenic diseases (e.g., progressive muscular dystrophy, Thalassemia, hemophilia, etc.), which can effectively block the transmission of hereditary tumors and monogenic diseases, especially in families with some rare diseases.
